Audio One Celebrates 25 Years of Success

On Oct. 12, 2011, Audio One blasted its sleek stereos and opened its showroom doors to loyal customers, suppliers and friends that have shown support through 25 years of success in business. Founding brothers Gino D’Ascanio, Carlo D’Ascanio and Anthony D’Ascanio celebrated their silver anniversary with music, movie screenings, scotch tastings, hors d’oeuvres and delicious desserts. Guests enjoyed browsing Audio One’s revolutionary home entertainment systems and audio products stationed throughout eight demonstration rooms. “We started as three brothers … just young guys with a passion for electronics, and we managed to evolve and grow as the markets changed and hit the 25-year mark. We’re really proud to really make it and to be providing Vaughan with what we think is a very high level of service,” says Gino. Joining the evening’s events was Vaughan Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua, who congratulated the team and presented them with a certificate.

A tribute to quality and innovation was held at the Vaughan Mills Mall location of L’Oro Jewellery on Oct. 20, 2011. The exclusive event drew watch collectors together to preview the latest from luxury sports watchmaker Linde Werdelin.

Recognized for carrying quality niche brands, L’Oro storeowner Haigo Derian expressed passion and excitement over the latest exclusive partnership with Linde Werdelin, a brand that fits L’Oro’s views on quality performance. “The basis of this brand is a philosophy that has no compromise. The micro-machining on the product is incredible, and what makes the brand special is how niche [it] is. Last year, there were 400 units manufactured, and this year, we’re looking at about 500 – and everything manufactured is sold.”

McDonald’s owner/operators across the GTA, which include Larry Garber and Garry Garber from Vaughan, have committed a $2 million donation that will provide families a place to heal better together: the new Ronald McDonald House Toronto. The new house opened its doors on Nov. 18, 2011.

Mane Event Fundraiser

Solo Bace, Lift Salon & Spa and April Maloney Salon created magic for children and families of The Teresa Group on Oct. 23, 2011. Proceeds from the 14th annual Mane Event Fundraiser made it possible for 700 children affected by HIV and AIDS to receive backpacks, school supplies, winter hats/mitts and a holiday party. www.teresagroup.ca

The Hatsquerade

Hats On For Awareness, a non-profit organization, hosts an annual fundraiser, The Hatsquerade, to support the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in its efforts to create widespread awareness of this disease. The organization has committed to raise $250,000 for the CAMH Volunteer Lounge at the hospital, which will provide a hub for client-focused activities and a Telephone Support Line, providing referrals to essential services.

Dreams Take Flight

The 6th annual Dreams Take Flight gala was held on Oct. 20, 2011, at the Toscana Banquet and Conference Centre. Seamus O’Regan of Canada AM hosted the event, which raises funds to bring special children to Disney every year. Safehaven Gala Celebrates 21 Years
